Lately I have been ruminating upon the mindset of United States Americans in regards to nutrition and exercise. Our society has become so privileged and indulgent in so many ways, but the worst is the gluttony and lack of physical activity. Did you know that 70% of Americans are overweight? That is a horrific number of unhealthy individuals in our country. It basically means that the vast majority of us are shortening our own lives over C.R.A.P.: Carbonated Drinks, Refined Sugars, Artificial Sweeteners and Colors, and Processed Foods. This has become "the norm" for what passes as nutrition in America and quite frankly, It's KILLING people!
In our fast paced society, it's easy for people to make excuses. People claim they have little or no time for exercise or to prepare foods of value and healthy nutrition. This is the BIGGEST COP-OUT that exists. The fact is, we're ALL busy! The difference between someone who makes excuses to eat CRAP and skip workouts and someone who gets it done and meets their health and fitness goals with exercise and proper nutrition is PRIORITIZING! The person who is ready to change their life and meet their goals will do whatever it takes to fit a half hour workout into their lives, even if they have to wait until 10pm when the kids are finally asleep. The person who is ready to get healthy will prepare nutritious foods like fruits and vegetables, organic lean proteins, and foods rich in omega 3 fatty acids all in ADVANCE on Sunday so that they have nutritious meals all prepped and easy to grab throughout the week.
The difference between these people is their character and how much they value themselves. The person who lives on excuses to make poor choices for their health needs to work on how they value themselves on the INSIDE before they can make any progress in changing their outward appearance. It's the only logical explanation. If you don't have enough self-worth to believe you're worth taking care of by feeding your body proper nutrition and exercising then you will forever be in a state of self-loathing, gluttony and poor health. IT ISN'T SELFISH TO GET HEALTHY!!! In fact, I think it's MORE SELFISH TO BE UNHEALTHY! You're not only doing a dis-service to yourself but also your loved ones because like I said, you are shortening your life and diminishing your health by making these poor choices.
So, I hate to burst your bubble, but The "Magic Pill" Doesn't Exist!!! All of these diet and exercise fads that promise immediate results with no dietary restraints and no exercise are a FALLACY!!! The fact is, it takes HARD WORK AND DEDICATION on your part to get healthy and sculpt a lean body! Wake up America! When will you realize YOU ARE WORTH MORE?!?! INVEST in yourself! MAKE the time! I did it, even with a newborn and a job and other commitments because I made no excuses! There's NO reason you can't too!
I am here to help you! I am your coach and I've been through the struggle! I am certainly NO SAINT or slave to health and exercise. I WORK AT IT EVERY DAY! But, I do it because I see the worth in my health and who I want to see when I look in the mirror. It's like my man Shaun T says, "DON'T RUN FROM THE WORK, FEEL THE WORK!"
