My Transformation Story

Hello and welcome to my blog!

I decided to create this blog to help and inspire other women out there like me who have struggled with weight loss, especially post baby. Here's my story:

My name is Emily and I am a 26 year old wife. mother, teacher and Beachbody Coach. A year and 1 week ago I gave birth to our first born child; a gorgeous baby boy! Prior to my pregnancy I had always been slender and decently in shape. I had never weighed more than 147lbs at my heaviest and I am 5' 7" tall. I always said that I wouldn't be one of those women who uses pregnancy as an opportunity to let it all hang out and get fat, but low and behold, that's exactly what happened. When I was pregnant, I was tired all the time and craved the fattiest and richest foods. The last thing I ever wanted to do was exercise and I hardly did so. By the time I reached the end of my third trimester I had breeched the 200 pound mark on the scale and felt disgusting. After about 2 months of recovering from birth and taking it easy my body had shed the fluid retention and I was down to 186 pounds, leaving me with 40 pounds of fat to lose. The thought of losing that much weight to get back down to my pre-pregnancy size was daunting to me. I had never been faced with the challenge of needing to lose so much fat. It took about a month to find a good routine in terms of exercise but it wasn't until August that things really started to take off. I joined Weight Watchers because the points could be adjusted for breastfeeding mom's to ensure enough nutrition was available for producing milk. I also started a new program from Beachbody called Focus T25 by Shaun T. The program is comprised of high-intensity calisthenic and plyometric exercises that go for 25 minutes at a time with no rest. It was very difficult at first, especially to move quickly with all that extra fat on my body. But, I stayed with the program and my weight watchers points strictly. I averaged a slow steady weight loss of about 4-5 pounds a month. After Christmas it took me a while to get past a plateau as I became too casual about my nutrition. There were lots of mini vacations and time spent with family with a tons of food temptations and distractions that took away from workouts. I was frustrated with myself for letting it continue to happen with only 7 pounds left to loose to get back to pre-pregnancy weight. I continued to workout and even added a weight training program from Beachbody called ChaLEAN Extreme into my Focus T25 routine. But it wasn't until finally, at the end of April I got myself back in gear with my nutrition and points tracking. I readjusted my points since I'm only part-time breastfeeding now and made sure to stay on target in my tracking. I also got more strict about getting my exercise on a more consistent schedule. It only took about a week and a half for my body to positively respond and drop those last 7 pounds and I am continuing to lose!

The combination of good nutrition tracking and the dedication to the amazing workout programs from Beachbody has absolutely changed my life! In 9 short months I got my pre-pregnancy body back and YOU can too!!!
